Michael Marius Pessah | Cinematographer

Award-winning cinematographer Michael Marius Pessah, ASC, is known for his bold use of light, merging an avant-garde sensibility with classic visual storytelling. He has collaborated dozens of times with filmmaker Matthew Mishory on feature films, documentaries, and commercials. In 2020 he was invited to be a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. Early in his career, Outfest named Michael a Five in Focus emerging talent for his cinematography in Matthew Mishory’s Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean. His narrative work also includes Lions Gate release Smiley Face Killers, written by Bret Easton Ellis, and series for HBO, The History Channel, and Lifetime. Michael’s unscripted work includes Scandalous, released by Magnolia Pictures, and Viva la Causa, which was shortlisted for an Academy Award. Michael has also shot spots for global brands such as Ralph Lauren, TCL, Hartmann, Ford, Spyder, Pfizer, Red Bull, and Anheuser-Busch.
